Fall Portraits

Because childhood deserves a little magic.

Sometimes everything just comes together.

The light. The leaves. The location. The dress.

And then you look at the back of your camera and think, “Ohhhh yeah. This is going to be GOOD.”

This was one of those sessions.

We had ridiculously beautiful golden fall light filtering through the trees, a gorgeous wooded location, and a dress with approximately 47 miles of tulle. 😂

Put it all together, and suddenly we weren't standing in South Jersey anymore.

We were somewhere in a fairytale.

And THIS is the kind of photography I absolutely love creating.

Childhood, But Make It Magical

Listen, I love a good smiling-at-the-camera photo.

Grandma needs one. Mom needs one. We'll get one.

But then?

Let the kid move.

Twirl the dress. Run through the leaves. Look for bugs. Laugh at something completely inappropriate. Forget for five minutes that there's a camera pointed at you.

Because that's usually when the magic happens.

As a South Jersey children's photographer, I want to create beautiful portraits, but I also want photographs that actually feel like your child.

Their personality. Their imagination. Their little quirks.

And if we can make them look like they wandered directly into a storybook while we're at it?

Even better.

A boy in a maroon shirt and a woman in a floral maxi dress hold hands on a dirt path in a sunlit autumn forest.

A Little More Than Just a Pretty Picture

Here's something you might not know about my photography.

There's a lot more that goes into these images than finding a beautiful location and putting a child in a gorgeous dress.

It's the way the light falls through the trees. The movement of the fabric. The composition. The colors. The tiny details that most people probably wouldn't think twice about.

And then there's what happens after the session.

Every finished portrait is individually hand-edited by me. No one-click presets, no outsourcing, and no assembly-line editing.

Just a whole lot of attention to detail, a little artistic obsession, and probably more time spent perfecting an image than I'd care to admit. 😂

Because when I create fine art children's portraits, I'm not just trying to deliver another pretty photograph.

I want to create something that looks and feels like a piece of art.

Something you'll want to print big, hang on your wall, and still love twenty years from now.

Yes, I Have the Dresses!

Before you look at these photographs and think, Okay, but where am I supposed to find THAT dress?

You don't have to.

I have a client closet filled with beautiful pieces available for photography sessions, including dresses that are perfect for whimsical, fairytale-inspired portraits.

I also help with styling, because the last thing you need is to spend three weeks ordering dresses online and returning fourteen of them.

You're welcome. 😂

And don't worry, not every session needs 900 yards of tulle.

If your child is more of a barefoot-in-the-grass, running-through-the-woods kind of kid, we can absolutely create something beautiful around that, too.

But I'm also never going to talk you out of 900 yards of tulle.

Just saying.

Why Fall in South Jersey Is So Magical

There's a reason fall is one of my favorite seasons for children's and family photography.

South Jersey gets this tiny little window when the trees turn golden, the temperatures finally stop trying to kill us, and the evening sunlight filtering through the leaves is absolutely gorgeous.

And then approximately five minutes later, the leaves are gone, it's freezing, and the sun sets before anyone has even thought about dinner.

So we use that beautiful light while we've got it. 😂

Over the years, I've discovered some incredible photography locations throughout South Jersey and the Philadelphia area.

Wooded trails, open fields, flower farms, beautiful gardens, and a few hidden gems that you probably wouldn't look twice at until you saw them through my camera.

Sometimes the most ordinary-looking places create the most extraordinary photographs.

That's part of the art. Seeing the magic in places other people might overlook.

They Won't Stay This Little

And here's the part where I get slightly sentimental.

Childhood goes ridiculously fast.

One minute they'll happily put on a giant princess dress and spin around in the woods for you.

Then you blink.

Suddenly they're older, they have opinions about everything, and you're apparently embarrassing simply by existing.

Funny how that happens.

So take the pictures.

Not because every photograph needs to hang above the fireplace. Not because everyone needs to be perfectly dressed or perfectly behaved.

Take them because this version of your child only exists right now.

The missing teeth. The curls. The belly laughs. The little hands. The personality that somehow gets bigger every single year.

That's the stuff you'll want back someday.

I can't stop them from growing up.

But I can freeze this part. ❤️

And maybe that's what I love most about being a children's photographer.

Long after the beautiful dress has been outgrown and those tiny hands aren't quite so tiny anymore, you'll still have these photographs.

A little piece of their childhood, exactly as you remember it.

Only with a little extra magic.

Ready to Make Some Magic?

If you're looking for children's or family photography in South Jersey that's a little whimsical, a little emotional, and definitely not boring, I'd love to create something beautiful for you.

Whether you're dreaming of fine art fairytale portraits, golden-hour family photographs, or something completely unique to your child's personality, we'll work together to bring your vision to life.

I'll help with the location, styling, and all those little details that make a session feel special.

You just bring the kids.

I'll bring the camera, the creativity, and probably an unreasonable amount of enthusiasm over pretty light.

And yes.

You can wear the giant dress. 😂
