There’s just something about the Jersey Shore.
Maybe it’s the salty air, the sound of the waves, the kids running barefoot through the sand, or the way everyone seems to relax a little once they reach the beach. Whatever it is, the Jersey Shore has a way of bringing families together and creating memories that stick around long after the summer ends.
And honestly? That's exactly what I love capturing.
At Deirdre Morgan Photography, I believe family photography should feel like your family. Not stiff poses, forced smiles, or everyone standing perfectly still while someone repeatedly tells the kids to look at the camera. (Because we all know how well that usually works!)

Some of my favorite photographs happen when nobody is thinking about the camera.
It's your little one reaching for your hand as the waves roll in. Your kids laughing hysterically at something only they find funny. Dad scooping up a toddler before the water reaches their feet. Mom finally getting into the photographs instead of always being the one taking them.
Those are the moments that matter.
Of course, we'll capture those beautiful family portraits where everyone is looking at the camera, too. But I also want to tell the story of your family as you are right now.

One of the things I love most about photographing families at the Jersey Shore is that no two sessions are ever quite the same.
Some families love the classic beach portraits with soft dunes, coastal grasses, and beautiful evening light. Others want playful photographs with the kids running through the surf, splashing in the water, or snuggling up together along the shoreline.
And then there are the families who want a little of everything.
That's my kind of session.
We'll get the beautiful portraits for your walls, but we'll also leave plenty of room for spontaneous moments, silly faces, and the laughter that happens naturally when everyone is simply enjoying themselves.
You don't need perfectly behaved children. You don't need to know how to pose. And you definitely don't need to spend the entire session worrying about whether everyone is smiling.

Why Sunset Is My Favorite Time for Beach Sessions
There's a reason photographers love that magical hour before sunset.
The light becomes softer, the sky takes on beautiful colors, and everything feels a little more dreamy.
It's also the perfect time to slow down after a long beach day and enjoy a little family time together.
I love using natural light, the movement of the ocean, and the beautiful surroundings to create images that feel authentic, timeless, and full of emotion.
And while sunset sessions are always a favorite, every beach and family is different. We'll discuss the best timing and location to create the look you're hoping for.
What Should You Wear for Your Jersey Shore Family Photos?
First, please don't feel like everyone needs to show up wearing identical white shirts and khaki pants. We survived that photography era, and I think it's okay to leave it behind!
Instead, think about coordinating colors, comfortable fabrics, and clothing that moves naturally.
Soft neutrals, muted blues, earthy tones, and gentle coastal colors look beautiful against the sand and ocean.
Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel good.
